It's well known that when crunch time comes, when we really need to get something done at our shul, our Young Israel leaders call upon the Sisterhood. Time and again, these talented and dedicated women have come to the shul's rescue with major contributions and successful programming.
Our Young Israel Sisterhood is an organization for community women offering various social and cultural events, including a Mothers Day Oneg, Finance for Women seminar, a pre-Chanukah night at the Clayroom and the very successful Chodesh Chadash program, a monthly series of inspiring shiur lectures and fun activities on or around Rosh Chodesh.
YIB Sisterhood also fundraises in order to maintain and enhance the synagogue. Two of its most successful projects are the annual Mishloach Manot project and a beautiful New Years Greeting Card. The Sisterhood also published a wonderful cookbook entitled Make Way for Dumplings and other Kosher Recipes, that is available for sale in the YIB office.
As an additional service to the community, the Sisterhood has available electric candlesticks for those in the hospital over Shabbat or Yom Tov, as the hospitals do not permit candles to be lit. Chevrat Chesed, a project of Sisterhood, is dedicated to providing support to our YIB family. The Sisterhood hopes to attract women of all ages and is receptive to all new ideas for events or programs. For more information about Chevrat Chesed, click here. Anyone who is interested in joining and volunteering, please contact Mindy Gewirtz.
